The change - Mr. C
Mr. C is facing a number of challenges after he was promoted
and sent to Singapore to take over a local subsidiary in the
electronics industry. It's his first overseas assignment after
living and working in the U.S. He's facing a new culture and
will be working with people with different values and communication
styles. In addition to the cross-cultural element, he is taking
over a separate company, and having spent most of his career
in a corporate structure this present an additional challenge.
His company hired RIGHThought to help Mr. C through this transition.
RIGHThought will work with Mr. C on several levels and issues.
First, he needs to develop cultural awareness. His performance
will be judged based on his ability to motivate people and
prioritize tasks. This will take a central role in the coaching
process. In coaching sessions Mr. C will:
- Build cultural awareness and adapt his leadership style
- Redesign the way he leads people according to the new
job scope
- Develop as a leader, building from his strong points,
to fit this new environment.
Mr. C is in the initial phase of a 15-session "Coaching
for Performance" program, with a strong cross-cultural
element. The overall targets for the sessions will remain
unchanged, but there will be adjustments and correction to
the coaching method as the program progresses.
